Everyone experiences back pain at some point. Although you may be tempted to stay on the couch rather than sticking to a routine and working through the pain, researchers discovered a 12-week exercise programme reduced pain in people suffering from chronic backaches. Subjects who did cardio exercises improved by 12% and those who weight-trained improved by 60%. So unless your doctor tells you to stick to bed rest, adjust your workouts accordingly and so what you can to keep moving.
