BCAA is a branched-chain amino acid. The BCAAs, particularly leucine, are the metabolically-active-components of protein responsible for large portion of the anabolic response to protein. Supplementing with BCAAs may increase lean mass, improve strength, performance and decrease muscle damage. This is due to the powerful effect of BCAAs on increasing protein synthesis.
